We did two tours of Hunters Crossing Place. The first one was on a weekend, and the second one was a few weeks later during the week to see how the staff and all the residents were doing and what their activities were like. The sales manager and the nurse, who were the folks that spoke to us initially, were very nice and helpful in answering all our questions. The fact that their location provided a secure facility on both the memory and non-memory sides was part of the reason that we chose this particular facility because we felt that that best provided us with what my uncle needed at the time. The move-in process as far as completing the lease and move-in information was a bit fast, but they answered all the questions that we had for them, and they did not pressure us to finish reading everything. They were ready to move forward at a faster pace than we were. They accommodated what we needed. Their reception as far as visitors and being able to send packages and mail to my uncle's new address have been good. No issues with that. Some of the communication as far as community updates for what's going on in the community being communicated to the family members could be a little bit better. We've been able to get the information we needed, but there were some instances where facility-wide notice would have been more helpful in facilitating everyone getting that information. But overall, it's been good. My uncle got a studio with a walk-in heated bathroom, a walk-in shower, a small seating area, and then his bedroom area. It was a comfortable little studio with a kitchenette area. Of course, he has access to all the common areas like the TVs, games, and a little patio area outside. Unfortunately, I don't remember the list of amenities and my uncle doesn't utilize them that much. They have musicians come in to play in the common area for folks, and he would come out, sit and enjoy that, and so that's sort of the amount of interaction as far as activities and amenities that he has used.

I went to Hunters Crossing Place. The staff was informative. It's clean. The rooms were small. They need to improve on their sales pitch. The expense is not worth the environment. It felt a little like a used car lot. We saw the food and the menu looked fine. It was basic.

I was very impressed with Hunters Crossing Place. The people there were super nice. They had a lot of nice activities. I met with the staff member, and she was very nice, and very personable. It was also homey and very clean. They had a library and a beauty salon.

I toured Hunters Crossing Place for my grandmother. It was great all around, and the place was clean. The staff was friendly, and the place seemed very comfortable. It would be a place where I would want to live if I needed to be in a place like that one day. They have private rooms that could accommodate a live-in person, a family member, so they just have a lot of options. They have a lot of community social things to do. It was just great there. It's just a little too pricey. The staff was very informative, they answered all my questions, and they made us feel comfortable there. They allowed us to take pictures of the room, and the whole facility if you wanted to. They explained everything very well. It is very spacious, it has lots of room, they have a gated courtyard in the middle of the facility. They have an outdoor area with a garden and different things to do out there. They had a nice setup, with a variety of different things for the residents to do there. They even have a beauty salon for women.

This place has gone downhill. The trash is never taken from room, the cleaning is exceedingly bad. I have to clean the toilet nearly every time I visit and it’s apparent no one does anything but minimum. For the price they get, think they could at least do that. I did speak with the latest management about it, two under 25 year olds with MBAs. Got the management double speak that somehow put it back on me. Give me management with some real experience and compassion any day over college wonders. No issues with food. Aides can be rude, probably not supervised well. The grounds need serious attention, the part facing resident rooms is deplorable, sickly plants. Don’t know who maintains, but it’s Florida. You can have nice landscaping very easily. Trash is never picked up out there either. Like part facing front is kept nice, but the part not seen by visitors is not. Telling of their values. Room itself suits my mom fine. No complaints there really.

Hunters Crossing Place was fine. I just wish their floors were all regular floors and not carpeting for easier to clean up. My brother stayed there for about a month. The staff was friendly, but they need more knowledge with assistance. Some of them didn't seem to know much at all and they weren't really attentive at the time. The place was clean.

I liked Hunters Crossing. It was less expensive but very nice. I wasn’t impressed with the person who was doing the presentation because she didn’t seem very professional. The community was very nice, beautiful, and very clean. The only thing I was bugged about was that it changed ownership many times. It happened to be behind a grocery store, a shopping area, and a very nice Italian restaurant. They are building a walk-in clinic right across the street right now, so that is going to be very convenient. It is probably about 15 minutes from a major hospital. The room I saw was a studio that was quite small.

My mother is only doing respite care, and she is staying at Hunters Crossing in Gainesville. Elaine -- who I initially spoke with -- was marvelous. She was very caring and provided a lot of information, but then my mother decided she would continue to live with my brother. But the responsiveness was excellent. Everyone that provided my name went out of their way to do what they could. The rooms were very nice, clean, and well decorated. The staff was highly attentive, and they were all very caring. The atmosphere was great. I could see their snacks and drinks. My mother seems very happy, and she has been there about four days.

The rooms in Hunters Crossing Place had low, 8-ft ceilings, so they looked a little small. The dining area looked inviting and was an open room with a bunch of tables in it. At the entrance, they had a great room where they had musical entertainment sometimes and a man cave down one of the hallways. The staff was very nice. We met the chef, but we did not have a meal there. The marketing person was very nice.

Brookdale Hunter's Crossing's staff is very friendly, attentive, and helpful. My mom hasn't moved in yet, but the staff helped me a lot with the paperwork, and we communicated by email and talking on the phone. It's a positive environment, and we were able to get a room that was divided into a bedroom and living area, and my mother likes that. She can also bring her dog and her electric wheelchair. It's really good. They have snacks set out in different places, and they always have coffee and juice for people to help themselves.

We toured Brookdale, and it was a very nice facility. It wasn’t on our top 3 because we had to narrow it down, but then when we learned that my mom did not qualify for one of the top choices, we went ahead and registered for Brookdale to be on the waitlist for them. When we went back, it seemed that the people were very friendly. The situation is my mother is in Virginia, and I am in Kansas and my cousin who is her main carer set up an appointment with a nurse. They offered to come out as that would have been much easier, and she said sure. The nurse that she spoke with ended up for labor day, but he didn’t show; that was a bit of a disappointed but it made it easier for use to decide. The nice thing is they refunded the entire amount. I put a $500 deposit down, and they told us that there will be a processing fee. If she didn’t stay there, it would $100 that they will keep, and they didn’t keep it; we got the check yesterday for $500, so that was a nice surprise.

Brookdale Hunters Crossing had one- and two-bedroom apartments with big rooms. The people were nice and wonderful. It was more expensive due to their having a 24-hour care nurse because they specialize in memory care. It was a wonderful visit.

During my visit in Brookdale Hunter's Crossing, I thought the community was nice. I noticed that they had an excellent security. The staff showed me around the area, except the bedrooms. They have monthly activities to celebrate different things, and they have crafts too. They had large dinner tables in a room with an open ceiling. I liked it because the light could come through. Overall, I liked that it was close to my house.

I toured Hunter’s Crossing, and the facility was too much like a nursing home but close to where my daughter lived. It was a fine place, seemed clean, and the people seemed nice, but I don’t think it was a good fit for my dad.

Brookdale Hunter's Crossing looks good for the future. It was head and shoulders over the other ones from the people that were running it, the cleanliness of the facility, and what they had available. The room I looked at was nice and clean and had hard floor on it. I will recommend them.

I liked that Brookdale Hunter's Crossing (formerly Sterling House of Gainesville) was close to shopping centers, and you get to go do your grocery. I've got a powered chair, so I could do that. They're very good with activities. It would be perfect, but I just can't afford it. The staff was very good.

Our experience with Brookdale Hunter's Crossing (Formerly Sterling House of Gainesville) so far has been fine. The staff is very good. My father's room is a two-room that's got a living room, a bedroom, a kitchenette, and a bathroom, but he hasn't been there long enough yet.

My initial impression when I walked in at Brookdale Hunter's Crossing was that the place was very clean, open, and friendly. I was greeted by their staff, and I think there was food offered in the lobby area. I was able to speak with the staff, the individuals living there, and their housekeepers. They all had positive things to say about the place. I was very impressed; it was a great tour.

I went to Brookdale Hunter’s Crossing, and it seemed fine. I had to go after work, so there wasn't much going on, and they didn't have any open rooms, so I couldn't see a room. I toured the rest of the facility, and it was very nice. The staffs were friendly, and the other ones I didn't talked to looked busy. I saw some residents walking down the hall, and they looked neat. They didn't look like nursing home patients, and they looked more like residents.

My parents spent a month here in respite care during a difficult time for my father's health. The staff is wonderful, I can't say enough about about the people from the administrators to the nurses to the aides. The surroundings are pleasant. The only negative was that the food was mixed, sometimes really good, sometimes less good. There was a transition going on with Brookdale taking it over and new food deliveries and the chef was working on it. Overall my parents were cared for and the people actually CARED, and I would recommend it.

The environment at Sterling House was very good. It didn't smell like an old folk's home. When we were there, we were treated with respect. It was a nice tour throughout.

We got my mother-in-law in the Sterling House and she's going to move in tomorrow. It's only four and a half miles from our house here in Florida. The area is very nice. It's right behind a little strip mall then has a public subway, a dry cleaners and a Hallmark store and she is capable of walking to that. The place is a little small but it's what she can afford. It's just a hard adjustment. We're moving her from a 2-bedroom assisted living to a small 1-bedroom that's 400 sq. ft. The staff was absolutely wonderful. The salesperson and the administrator were very good to us.

We went to visit the Sterling House of Gainesville assisted living facility since we were already in the region, looking at places for my friend's mother to live. The grounds around the main door were nicely kept, with flower beds, manicured trees, shrubs and grass and seating areas. All of the interior rooms had plenty of fresh air and light. Each room was beautifully decorated and furnished. The colors throughout the building were soothing and comfortable. There were many places for residents to enjoy a variety of activities, from games to reading and seeing films. We saw residents of many levels of ambulation - all of whom seemed to be well cared for, content and engaged in their lives. The private rooms we viewed were all very clean, well-kept and inviting - kind of resembling what you might find at a hotel that rents out small apartments - but more personalized. The dining areas have many options. From more intimate to communal dining, resident can choose whatever they like - in addition to hosting guests. The food choices looked nutritious and delicious, as well as the regular snacks - offered continually. Seniors can use the exercise room and also go on daily walks. Aerobics and yoga classes are also offered. The residents go on trips to visit the many Gainesville recreational hubs such as art galleries and museums, eateries and other cultural events, such as festivals and fairs. Every senior appeared to be very well cared for in a peaceful, yet fun environment by kind, caring and attentive staff.
