This place, located in the heart of Chinatown, offers a rich cultural experience in design and experience. When you enter, it feels like a safe place. And despite its large size, it has an intimate feeling. All of the residents in the 153 units are seniors and Chinese and low-income; most qualify for government assistance for some care. There are no caregivers on staff. One drawback to living or visiting here: Parking is horrible in this part of town, which is the heart of downtown, although there are lots of grocery stores and shops and other conveniences nearby. Every resident has an individual apartment. The living spaces are fairly typical, but very clean. There are some activities offered, mostly organized by those who live here. There is minimal cost to the residents since it is subsidized housing, but all residents must qualify through the bureaucratic paperwork.
