I like the services that Sunrise of Stamford offer. I like some of the rooms. They've done a little updating. They're very receptive to special menu requests and things. I found them to be very receptive and very open. It wasn't the nicest place. My sister went to a few nicer places and she didn't like Sunrise at Stamford, but that's the only one I've been to, and I found it fine. It wasn't great, but it was fine. I like the house cleaning, the laundry, and all that is included. You can either pay for them to administer medications or they can monitor medication. It kind of hits the point that I was more concerned about.

There's something very lovely about Sunrise of Stamford, but I did not like a number of things about it, so that was crossed off the list almost immediately. The building itself was pretty. They have a lovely patio that's very large, with benches and tables, and it's very inviting. I like that. They have dog houses in the backyard because people are invited to bring their pets. I actually met one of the pets, so that was kind of fun.
The rooms were very nice. They have a lot of things going on, but it was very strange. Of all the places that I visited, it was the quietest. You didn't hear anyone laughing. You didn't hear anyone talking, and all that time I saw only two of the residents, one was a woman who was chasing her little dog down the hallway, the other one was an elderly woman who was going to a class. Other than that, I saw none of the residents, and I found it strange. The grounds were very lovely.
As soon as I got there, the receptionist was almost rude to me. Automatically, they lost points for that, and the fact that the place was so quiet and it was almost like there was no one living there except for the two residents that I saw. Most of the facilities that I visited, one of the nurses or the head nurse came out and talked to me about my surgery, what my needs would be after the surgery, what was the level of care I was expecting, what could they provide for me, what did I need, did I need a walker, did I need some kind of little gizmo to pull my socks up, asking me all kinds of questions regarding postsurgical care.
At Sunrise of Stamford, I was introduced to the nurses and they just sort of waved at me. They were sitting at a desk. It's not like they were performing open heart surgery or anything. They just kind of waved at me. They couldn't care less, and I thought, this is not the place for me. In every other place that I went to, I met the head of activities, and at Sunrise of Stamford, I did not. The only staff members that I met were the two nurses that were sitting at their desks, and that was it. The staff who gave me the tour was very pleasant. She's a nice woman, very knowledgeable, and had answers to all of my questions. When I compare the tour I got there to the tour I got at other communities, there's a huge difference.

Sunrise of Stamford was kind of set off in the country, but it was still in Stamford. They had sitting areas that were amongst the trees and there were lawns. I had always driven by it because it's only a mile from my house, but it's set back. It's kind of like you're living in the country.
The staff was good. Unfortunately, I only saw three of them, plus I went on a Saturday. I guess Saturdays are kind of slow there. If I had the choice, I would have gone with Sunrise because it seems at least in the summertime, you could get out and get the sun on your face or walk around.
The rooms were nice. The great thing about it was there was a thermostat in each room. You could adjust either the heat or the air-conditioning to suit your own room as opposed to just having the whole floor heated to one temperature. That would be pretty neat. For someone cold all the time, you can have it up to 75. If they like air-conditioning, they could have it set at 68. You had your own bath, and they had kitchenettes there. They had a studio, a one-bedroom, and a two-bedroom. You had plenty of closet space. You got free cable TV in your room. All you have to do is get the converter. It was very well appointed.
Originally, I was supposed to be there before lunch, but with the COVID restrictions, they revised my visit to 1:00, so lunch was all done by then. The dining area was clean. There are plenty of tables for people to sit down. They had a library, a sitting room for TV, an area to play games, and another place that had couches where residents could have people come to visit them and instead of being squeezed into your room, you could sit down and have a conversation.
They had a backyard that was all fenced in and it had trees and stuff. It wasn't like you were limited. For people that had houses, that would be a place to stay because you got that living in a house feel. The facility looked pretty good to me. I went there in the winter, so there were no leaves on the ground or anything. Everything was pretty clean. They had a nice parking lot when you pulled in. It looked pretty nice. If they would have offered the Medicaid rooms once you're done spending your life savings, that would have been a place to go.

Sunrise of Stamford was great. I have no complaints. It was well maintained. It was like a 20-year-old facility, but it looked good and in good condition. The staff was very helpful. It was just one person and it was great. One thing I do remember is that they have a walking trail around the facility for people who want to get out and get fresh air.

The facilities at Sunrise of Stamford were older, a bit worn out, and cluttered, but the staff was very friendly and nice. They've got everything but it's just tired. It's a big facility, and they have a lot of activities.

Sunrise of Stamford is nicer and newer than the previous community I visited. Since it's right off Merritt Parkway it's in a great location. The staff was great, the person who gave me the tour was terrific, and the people that I met were very friendly. They have exercises, they have a large area where they have movies once a week, and they have a van that can take the people off the premises on fieldtrips and to doctors' appointments. There's also a Trader Joe's near them where the residents can go shopping.

Sunrise was nice, but most of the people were older than my husband, and it wasn't a good fit for him. They had a salon and a library. They had lots of activities to do during the week.

I've had my mother there for a number of years. I was satisfied until they brought in a new Executive Director. The issue is the new Executive Director is doing a poor job of running the place. Many of the staff have quit because she promises services to families to increase their level of care and get more money for Sunrise but she doesn't have the staff to deliver the level of service that she charges for the service. There is a constant turnover of care managers who are taking care of my mother. Since she's been there she's raised my mother's monthly fee $2000. There is constant turn over of nursing staff. The care managers are caring people but they can't work in such a stressful environment. They are simply stretched too thin. My recommendation is that until they replace the current Executive Director I would recommend looking elsewhere.

We visited 2 spots; one was Sunrise of Stamford, which was an excellent facility. The pricing was a little crazy though. If you have 2 pills to take everyday, the fee for that is $7500 for a year. Well, the place is great, the rooms are fine and dandy, and the furnitures are nice. Everything is nice about it.

My aunt has been in Sunrise for years, and I am looking for some options. She is happy where she is, but I just want to make sure, because she is 96, and I am doing her fiduciary plan. I like the people there and the cleanliness. The folks are willing to work with you, and my aunt has become pretty much accustomed to it after 7 years there. She is comfortable. The staff is fairly good. The dining room is very clean, and they mix up the menu. So, I will say it is fairly good also. They have movie nights, arts & crafts, entertainment, and music that my aunt enjoys listening to. She doesn't participate in many of the games because she is 96. The security is fairly good also.
Sunrise works with me to accommodate my aunt a little better. My aunt has been there for 7 years, and I didn't want to move her and change her environment. One of the improvements could be a little more attention to the individual resident.

The best one and the closest to my sister is Sunrise of Stamford. They had four different sized rooms, so they had a significant difference in starting prices. It is on the top of my list.

Sunrise was great. It was perfect. The lady in-charge there the best we ever found. The place was fantastic, and there's a good chance that's where we would end up. They had a food selection, which was really good. The staff was more than accommodating and very kind. They played games. They had a garden outside, and I thought they had bus trips for shopping.

My mother is a resident. I'll share the good and the bad so that people can make an informed decision.
Pro: My mother likes the social atmosphere. One of her main care givers takes very good care of her,
Con: The management is constantly trying to upgrade my mothers care to increase the revenue per resident. This is a common theme from the other daughters that I speak with. It really is taking advantage of the elderly. In 3 months my mothers bill went up an additional $3,000 per month. One of my friends had her mother there and the cost went up almost $4,000 per month. I was hoping that putting my mother in Sunrise would reduce the stress but in fact it has been very stressful for me. I am hoping to find another assisted living where this is not the norm. At the next place I look at I will ask for references of daughters of residences to get a better understanding of the pros and cons of the facility.

I visited Sunrise of Stamford. It was very nice and easier for me to go there. It looked perfect and they were so pleasant. Their marketing businessman, Michael, presented it right and even opened my knowledge that my husband being a soldier was entitled to some pension. I didn't know about that. So, he was the one who told me to research that and even gave me the phone number whom to call. I thought that was a very nice thing to do.
I also talked to the nurse who interviewed my husband to make sure that they could take him. They were very pleasant and they even gave me a pie. I did not eat there, but I saw the menu and it seemed to be a well-balanced. They had a pretty good chef and the people seemed to be very happy. They had private rooms, but there was no availability at the moment. They also had semi-private bedrooms with shared bathroom. They were nice and clean. When I was visiting, I saw their activities. There were two caregivers who were walking around and talking to them. I saw two ladies playing cards and there were 3-person groups.

Sunrise of Stamford was sent to me by someone from Caring.com. I didn't eat there but I did see their dining room and it looked nice. The place was fine but it wasn't for my father. The layout of the building seemed kind of confusing. Also it was not a cheerful environment in their memory care community. Most of the staff seemed nice enough, but in the memory care, I didn't feel that they were very happy. Some of them were nice. However, one of their staff members, she came pushing through a wheelchair as we were walking and I didn't think she had much regard for the fact that we were there standing. It just didn't seem like the staff was very engaged with their residents.

Sunrise of Stamford was beautiful. The atmosphere and everything was nice there. The staff seemed wonderful. One of the ladies even brought us coffee and then showed us around. Their rooms/apartments were beautiful too. They did have bunch of activities for their residents including crocheting, arts, music, etc. It was a very nice facility; however, the price was exuberant. I don't understand how people can afford that. It was a beautiful facility but most people couldn't afford to be there. It was all private pay. So if my mother got used to it and then run out of money, then they have to boot her out. They said that you'll let them know a year ahead before your funds run out and then you could start looking for another place that will take Medicare.

Sunrise of Stamford was a pleasant facility. It was the same with the other facility we visited. Their rooms were also pretty much the same too. The staff was pleasant. They explained everything to us.

I have no real complaints about the facility: it was clean, the staff was all friendly and seemed responsible, reliable, and honest. From what I see, residents are well attended to and the place runs efficiently. There are no signs of neglect. However, the place has an eery air to it. I do not think that the residents are unhappy per se, and they're certainly not mistreated, but there is life missing. Instead of productive, interactive activity, there is a lot of TV watching, radio listening, etc. On the other hand, this could be what the residents enjoy or are capable of. It would be nice if local student groups came to play games with them or sing to them, but that may be out of the facility's control. All things considered, I think it was a good family decision to put our grandmother there, and I believe she is in good hands.

This assisted living provider was very impressive. All of the elderly people living there seemed very happy and were very friendly. They were not short on people skills nor physical skills. The amenities were fantastic as they had food available the entire time in the lobby as well as a bathroom and sitting area. The building was kept at a very comfortable temperature as I visited in the winter and it was nice and warm inside. The staff was very kind to me, however, they were somewhat rude to some of the elderly people living there. They were very quick and attentive with service to the old people, but the way that they spoke to the old people was surprisingly unkind.

My grandmother lived at Sunrise Assisted Living for over three years. Although in her late nineties, she was able to attend all of the functions available. It made her very happy to visit their library, and attend classes downstairs. She painted, read, even chair-danced on a weekly basis. The accommodations were clean and well maintained. The lunchroom had a varied menu and the food was very good. She also enjoyed that guests were allowed to dine with her. The most important piece was that her aide could stay in the room with her, and even had a pull out couch for overnights.

My Gram stayed at Sunrise for almost 2 years. Sunrise is beautiful & expensive - althought worth every penny. While we lived in Stamford, my family would visit Gram in her own little apartment where she had all the amenities of being in her own home. The facility was spotless; the staff was very friendly and accomodating. They seemed to be very patient with some of the much older residents. We sat with Gram for dinner on occassion and met the friends she spent time with. The food was very good and Sunrise had no problem with providing meals to family members. A bus came to pick up the residents to go shopping or to CVS or Walgreens, or just out to a movie - just to get them out of their rooms. The grounds were kept beautiful as well. Flowers by season were always present. There was a nice patio with rocking chairs out front to sit and chat with other residents. and my son (4 at the time) would visit with other residents and make them laugh. Some residents didn't have families visiting (per Gram) so it was a treat for them to see the children. There was a Hairdresser onsite for the ladies too. My friend Nancy use to run it. I really can't think of anything negative to say about Sunrise. Gram would have loved to stay there but her funds ran out and she ended up moving in with her daughter, my aunt, in Michigan.

I had a very close friend who lived for a time at this facility. Whenever I visited I was always impressed by the atmosphere - people were friendly, always willing to say hello and give you a smile. The building (s) themselves were clean and easy to navigate, with appropriate care paid to wheelchair ramps and door handles with ease of turning in mind. The room - I only saw my friend's - was functional and clean, with a nice view of the outside. It seemed a little on the small side, but for a single person it served its function well enough. I had little interaction with the staff - be it my timing or theirs - so I cannot make an accurate statement, though my friend offered no complaints. It was also located nearby to a number of businesses, a number of which offered delivery, making access to necessities and restaurants easy and relatively fast. There are also shuttle services for ease of visitation or shopping further from the facilities.
