On 70 acres in historic Canaan, Connecticut, Geer is a locally-owned and operated community of independent seniors, residents with infirmities, daily program participants, caregivers, families, staff, neighbors, volunteers and friends. Our services include independent living apartments, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation, outpatient physical therapy, pharmacy services, adult day care that are all located on Geer’s beautiful campus. In addition to Geer's services you will also find the Canaan branch of the YMCA here. Kristen Marie's cafe is also open to the public for breakfast and lunch. Geer is a community of caring professionals who seek to nurture, treat, strengthen and refresh the minds, hearts, bodies and spirits of the aging and impaired people we serve. Our promise is to continue that tradition of care we began over forty-five years ago.

I did a tour of Geer Village, and I like the facility. Physically, I thought it was terrific, and the programs were good. The person who took me around was excellent. He was very friendly and very attractive. The price was right. They have programs, a sports place, and a library. They have a hairdresser that comes once or twice a week or something, and you book an appointment.

My relative really likes being in Geer Village. It's a beautiful place with lots to do, and so far he hasn't had any issues. The staff is very friendly, and we haven't had any problems, except one time when a staff took my relative's drawing from the nurse's station and put it back in his room, which upset him. My relative is in the assisted living and has an apartment. They have painting, a pool table, trips, and many different things for the residents. The pricing is expensive, though.

Geer Village is a place with very comfortable apartments. I like that there are interesting lectures in the local institution called the Taconic Learning Center throughout the year, and it also has a YMCA gym attached to it. The staff that I met seemed to be really good. Their amenities include a library, a chapel, a meeting hall, and all the usual things. They have a greater variety in the apartments compared to other senior communities I've been to. The only downside is that it's located in a town that's of no special interest. Canaan isn't a very exciting place.

My cousin was moved to Geer Village from rehab, where she had a small furnished apartment, but she only survived a week there. She wasn't there very long. That was a very excellent facility. She had just whatever she needed. We were very impressed with everything about Geer Village. It was very well-managed, very bright, and happy as much as it could be. They had a lot of activities, and the staff was excellent, very helpful, and very patient. There was a lot of things to do, and the people who stayed there were very friendly and supportive. It was a good experience; we were very happy with it. She liked the food there a lot.

Geer Village is just the place I should be. It has pleasant surroundings, good food, and most of all kindness and respect for the individual.
