Astoria Gardens is a smaller facility but it’s very expensive. I’d heard phenomenal things about them, but I was so taken back by the price. From walking around the lobby, I didn’t see it being worth that much money based on my first visit; the community was just really small. The staff is nice. The outside of the place is nice; the inside kind of seemed small. They had some gardens, but the parking was lousy. I couldn’t even park to go in.

I would have had my brother-in-law go to Astoria Gardens, but the distance was too much. It was an excellent facility. They offered nice-sized private rooms for basically the same price for a shared room in other places. They seemed to have nice amenities. It appeared to be a nice, new facility, and they seemed to be very caring. They had a separate building for their dementia patients versus their assisted living patients that don’t require that kind of help, so it was a nice feature. All-around, they just impressed me as a first-class place. If it hadn’t been for the commute distance, this is where we would have put him. I think Astoria was a very reasonable, excellent facility.

Astoria Gardens is a perfect place. It is an excellent place. The dining area is quite lovely. It has a cabinet of different kinds of tea cups. It has tables that are covered with table cloths and has cloth napkins. It has lovely silverware. Everything is just lovely. Breakfast is just like dinner; everything is very beautiful. Everything, even dinner, starts with soup for appetizers or a salad. Everything is just magnificent. My father has been there since April. It is very organized. The staff is very nice. They know what they are doing. It is just very well established. It is a place I would love to be, if I aged. I have been to a few of them, and that is the best place I have ever seen. It is so homey. They play games. They have music. Everything is so beautiful. It is like being at home.

We really liked Astoria Gardens; they’re very good and helpful. The staff showed us the rooms, which were of a good size. It looked like they have everything, and, of course, the price is high. They also have caregivers.

Astoria Gardens was nice, but the apartments were smaller with no balcony and kitchen. It has a nice location near the house so my son could be with me all the time. I didn’t like the food. I heard they had a lot of activities. The people are really nice there.

There are much better places elsewhere. Not a good facility for people with Alzheimer's symptoms (agitation, sleeplessness, boredom). I would never recommend this facility to anyone who is in need specifically of memory care as they are not equipped to handle that type of situation. Very unprofessional at times and treated family member poorly. I only give one star because there is no other alternative. Please beware and when you tour, do so more than a couple of times. Make sure you drop in and really look at the condition of the residents in memory care. You will often see them unkept.

Astoria Gardens is very upscale, decorated well, and top-notch. The staff was pleasant. They have every amenity you can think of, but their prices are way too high. The woman we were supposed to talk with was not in, so another person filled in. That was a little awkward, but they seem to be engaged with the clients. They have all kinds of activities. They have both assisted living and memory care. It is highly decorated and very comfortable that way, but the price is very high.

Astoria Gardens is the newest one here and it’s close to home. The facility is very clean and smells nice. My grandmother has been there a month now. They have a really good dining room service. She isn’t a picky eater though. She doesn’t like to participate in activities.
