I went to the Sunrise of Palo Alto. It's really beautiful. I liked the fact that they have a dedicated staff so that the residents would know who their caregivers were. Where my husband was before, there would be like a pool of caregivers, and he would never know which caregiver he would have on a given day and that used to bother him because there were certain ones that he liked, certain other ones he did not like. It was difficult to establish a routine that way, whereas at Sunrise they would assign particular caregivers and this would be the caregiver team, and you would always know that. That's what they said they were going to do, so I thought that would be much better, especially for someone who is beginning to have some memory problems. It's much better to have a smaller number of people and known people. They're very nice looking rooms, they're nicely carpeted, nicely painted. The little kitchenette areas are nicely organized.

Sunrise of Palo Alto is new, has a very nice floor plan, and is open. They have a very nice staff. The rooms are average-sized, and they have lots of activities. It was very pleasant. The food looked like it was good.

Very nice facility, but poor care. I had a relative stay here for three months, and they returned home. The major complaint a lack of overall care. When they had an emergency, and push the button care rarely came. After three months, they cleared out and returned home. If you move into this facility, wait before selling your residence, make sure they deliver on the care promised.

My visit to Sunrise was very nice, the environment was very welcoming, it was easy to park, and the staff accommodated me very well. It was very light, very clean, and very spacious. There were a lot of little nooks and crannies where, if I visited, I could sit with my wife, and that's a big plus. I saw everything in action, and the places where residents went, including the memory care unit.

The staff who toured us at Sunrise was very helpful. They have the normal type of activities for assisted living. They have discussions, talks, and entertainment. The room was very nice, and they have some exercise facilities.

Last month, my ex-wife and I spent 2 ½ hours at Sunrise of Palo Alto on a tour with a person telling us all about it and answering questions. I was impressed with all the people that I saw. I was also extremely impressed with the person who spoke to us and took us around. It was a very nice visit. This is the place that we definitely want to go. Sunrise of Palo Alto was the best facility that I saw. They have many amenities and all of their facilities are in beautiful condition. It’s fairly new. All the Sunrise facilities were good, but this one was especially good. All the furnishings were good and tasteful. They had plenty of equipment, room, and common areas. One of the things my ex-wife mentioned was that she liked to have areas where there is quiet and not too much noise. At the time we were there, they were retrofitting all the windows with noise-reducing windows even though this was a relatively new facility. I and my ex-wife were very impressed with that. The rooms themselves were very well designed. We looked at studios and one-bedrooms. They had them designed and furnished so that a large studio looked like there were two rooms. They had an area with cabinets and a sink but no stove.

I was very impressed by Sunrise, the facilities were very clean, and there were lots of different areas where they can engage in activities. Their calendar is full of various activities that are scheduled all the time. The place seemed bright, and sunny. There were safe places outside where they could walk around to enjoy the grass, and flowers. The environment is secured. You have to have codes to open the door to get to the elevator. However, they are also very expensive, and way outside my budget.

Everything was absolutely great at Sunrise of Palo Alto. I would be happy to put my elderly relative in there. The sales director who took me around could not have been nicer. I got a wonderful feeling from the place, and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

Sunrise of Palo Alto is a beautiful place. The facility is very clean, cheerful, very modern, expensively furnished, and they have very nice accommodation, but it's way beyond my budget. It's about $8000.

Sunrise Palo Alto had an underground parking garage. I live in rural Oregon, and I don't do the parking garage thing. There was also street parking. To get into the parking garage, you had to have the code. The residents there seemed happy. I really liked that they had a family dining room that you could reserve for birthdays and so forth. I thought that was really neat.

Sunrise is a typical retirement community. I have a 2-bedroom suite and the food is excellent. I have no complaints, everything is fine here. Something worth really well. It doesn't have a swimming pool or athletic facilities. The staff was very helpful and wonderful. It's a fine place.

Nice facility. Somewhat short on staff and services, especially with food services and quality. As a profit making organization, a great deal depends the leadership of the local manager and how much of the budget is allocated to hiring caring staff.

My mom, with fairly advanced Alzheimer's, stayed at Sunrise in Palo Alto for the better part of a year (2008-2009). The facility itself is beautiful, and my mom (who appreciates the 'finer things in life' really appreciated that aspect. My mom is also not the easiest person to deal with, so I appreciated that the management was willing to accommodate her needs -- a quiet room, first floor, meals in her room when she wanted, and so-on. There was, however, a significant downside. The facility always seemed to be short-staffed, and so i felt that my mom was not getting the amount of attention that she needed, and that we believed she would receive. One morning I visited and found her asleep on the couch (and she had fallen off the couch before); apparently, nobody had visited or thought to move her to bed during the night. That said, I feel that if your family member is more independent than my mom was, Sunrise might be a good choice.

My parent moved in earlier this year, and I have to say it's a mixed bag. As compared to other assisted living facilities I am familiar with, there is a greater expectation of independence. The downside here is if your loved one needs more attention -- there are times when my parent is left alone when she really needs help. My guess i that they scrimp a bit on staffing. Pluses: - Attractive facility - Good collection of activities - Great location Minuses: - Pushy, turn-off salesperson - Very pricey - Dining room service poor - Food is nothing to write home about.
