My grandmother was at Sunshine Manor Elder Care for almost a year. It was clean and well-kept. They had ample support staff. They're friendly. They took care of her very well. We would highly recommend them to anybody looking for a care facility for their loved ones. There was a recreational room. There was an outdoor patio with several tables, chairs, and umbrellas. It was open, airy, and light. They had that outdoor area where you could go and take walks. Value for money is excellent.

My loved one, had been in a very nice facility prior to moving to Sunshine Manor and he moved here because of the more personal care. He was interviewed by Motu prior to moving and it turned out that it was a good fit! The move-in went well. His room was large and ready for him. We brought some of his personal furniture to make him feel a little like home. The staff is welcoming and friendly. Any special food or needs were quickly attained. I was always welcome any time to visit and ask for information on his daily events. I saw that he was given tender help with his ever-increasing needs. There was time for conversation and affection from the incredibly caring staff. I visited with some of the residents who also said they were happy. The residents were always up, dressed, hair combed etc. The common areas were neat and clean. Special food was given upon request such as fruit, ice cream soup etc. The food is home-style with midday meal the largest and a light supper. My friend was not able to participate in activities but since he smoked they made sure he was accommodated, followed the rules and was taken away from the building to a lovely shaded area. I would like to live here when the time comes

Sunshine Manor Elder Care was being kept by a landscaper when I pulled up. When I walked in, there were two aides and a nurse there and they were all very friendly. The place was very clean. I didn't smell anything. I didn't see any messes anywhere and the bathrooms were well taken care of. They took me around to show me the kitchen area and the living area (where they have the big TV), the activities that they do, and the general routine of the day. They showed me the available rooms and the decks outside where it was nice and sunny. It felt homey and everybody was comfortable. Some people were taking naps, while others were watching TV. The lady I talked to was very, very knowledgeable. It felt like I knew her forever. That was nice because I want my father to feel like it's a home environment and not just business as usual.

My grandmother was a resident at Sunshine Manor a number of years. The place was always clean and smelled of good food. The caregivers were kind and treated my grandmother with dignity and respect. They had gatherings on occasion(prior to COVID) where there was music and dancing. Having to place a loved one in a care facility is always a difficult decision but Sunshine Manor made it so much easier for our family. In addition to providing excellent care they did not raise the cost of her care for most of the duration that my grandmother stayed with them. Thank you to the MD's that own the facility, the management and care providers. You are much appreciated.

DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. TERRIBLE PLACE. I DONT SEE HOW STATE HAS NOT SHUT DOWN YET. ADMINISTRATOR MOTU IS A HORRIBLE PERSON. VERY RUDE & IGNORANT. SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT A SINGLE RESIDENT IN THIS FACILITY ALL SHR CARES ABOUT IS THE MONEY. WHEN MY FATHER PASSED AWAY THE FIRST THING SHE ASKED WAS IF SHE COULD HAVE HIS BELONGINGS, WAS NOT CHARISMATIC WHATS SO EVER. I REPEAT DO NOT VRING YOU LOVED ONES HERE. & I LOOKED AT THEIR MENU THEY ARE FED THE SAME THING ALMOST EVERY SINGLE SAY. TUNA SANDWICH

My father moved into Sunshine Manor Elder care for 2 weeks before he passed. We’re very impressed with it. I want to go there when I get old. The place is clean, it didn’t smell bad at all. They had home-cooked meals. Everyone was treated like part of the family. We could sit in the living room and chat with people, and go in the room and do anything we want. My mom and I can’t say enough about it. It’s very good.

I visited this place lately with a friend. Its very mallow and homely environment. Staff is excellent. I believe staff truly care for the residents. Its very comfortable environment. Care giver to staff ratio is great and there is base rent with no extra charges with levels of care. Somehow it does not have much online presence and you will only realize how good it is on physically visiting. I would recommend 110% to my family members.

My uncle has found a place, and his wife is there, so things have been going very well. Actually, Sunshine Manor is very much like a home and very open, welcoming, and the rooms are either private or you could share. It is just a very comfortable place, and that's the part that makes him feel good. My aunt is much happier. She had been sleeping a lot at home because there wasn't really much for her to do when it was just her and my uncle. Now, she is up and about a lot more and visiting with other people. It has gone very well.

I would have wanted to know when and if they were administering additional meds other than recommended by physician.

Sunshine Manor is a small assisted living facility in Placerville"”about 40 miles west of Sacramento, nestled in the foothills in a residential neighborhood and just a half mile or so away from a hospital and doctors' offices. They don't offer memory care but do accept people with early stage Alzheimer's, or memory loss. As long as they're able to do most of their ADLs, or require minimal assistance, Sunshine Manor can meet their needs. It's has just 12 beds"”with both private and shared rooms. It looks like a large country house (it used to be an historic home); they added on about 3 extra bedrooms; nine total. It's wheelchair and walker accessible, and there are grab bars along walkways. They also have a lovely patio area to meet with family and other residents. When I last visited, they had mostly women residents, but they accept men as well. The whole place feels like a family run business. There's little turnover among either the staff or the residents, and there's a good ratio of caregivers to residents. The direct care staff is mostly CNAs, who are trained to dispense meds, perform basic first aid, cook meals, and provide daily care. They serve home-cooked meals, which are very good. The heavier meal is at lunch"”and they do offer moderately pureed foods for those who can no longer eat regular meals. Whether it's for St. Patrick's Day, Easter, July 4th, or Thanksgiving, the holiday meals reflect tradition. Family involvement is always good, but especially enhanced during the holidays. The activities program could be upgraded, but they do a pretty good job. Once a quarter they go on a casino outing, which is very popular. Also, they make occasional trips into the foothills and visit Apple Hill. Apple Hill has recreational apple farms, with craft fairs throughout the fall which are a big hit with the residents. And there's music"”karaoke and sing-along"”twice a week for each, exercise classes daily, classic movie time, memory lane videos, seasonal and holiday special events, non-denominational church services and Catholic ministry, and good old Bingo for candy bars. It's a great place to visit surrounded by fresh air and Ponderosa Pines. One can easily feel the bonding between the residents, and staff. Overall, I would give Sunshine Manor a 4.5 out of 5.
