I liked Drake Terrace. It was a smaller place and I think the employees have worked there a long time. The residents were friendly during the short time my husband was there. The food was really good. The staff was very good. I was very happy with them. Although the facility was not new, it was still nice.

The facility is pretty and clean and the staff is kind. My mother, with an Alzheimer's diagnosis, has lived there for 4 1/2 years, first in assisted-living and now a few months in the memory-care unit. We have now been told, against medical advice, that she must move because her condition has deteriorated to the point where she cannot get out of bed without assistance. We had assumed she would be allowed to stay until end of life. What people are considering this facility need to know is that they do not allow Hoyer or Sara lifts, simple and not expensive lifting devices that staff could use to safely move her from her bed to a chair, bathe her, etc. This is a corporate decision (from Kisco Senior Living) not Drake Terrace itself so I do not fault local staff but I honestly would not recommend any Kisco community if you have any expectations of your loved one being able to stay for the rest of their lives. I am giving the facilities a "poor" rating because of Kisco's Hoyer lift policy.

Drake Terrace's staff was very accommodating and showed me the premises. They had a well-kept library with a fireplace which you could sit around at and read. They also had a movie theater, exercise rooms, and exercise activities. It's also very close to a major shopping center, and you can also arrange for transportation to get to appointments.

Drake Terrace was a very nice place. It would probably be our second choice for the waiting list. It is a little farther from the area we wanted to be in, but it is very nice. We like this place. They have a small coffee area/library, an exercise room, and a cafeteria. The dining area looked very nice. The whole place seemed very nice. Everybody was very friendly. It was very welcoming. They had nice apartments too.

My father-in-law is just leaving Drake Terrace. It’s a very nice, large facility with lots of activities. He was in the memory care unit, and they took excellent care of him. My father-in-law found the food to be decent. The staff members are very warm, very caring, very professional, and very thorough. They brought in a lot of entertainment and sing, play bingo, go on outings, have discussions, and more.

Drake Terrace was a very nice place, and it had everything we wanted. The staff was very kind and helpful. The location was perfect because it was close to shopping places. The rooms were of good size, clean, and well kept. They provide transportation, and they have a calendar of events.

Drake Terrace is really wonderful, and there are 120 people, so my mom is very happy to make a lot of new friends; she's doing fine. My mom is happy with the food, but I think it's a little bland because it's not very well-seasoned. However, it's nutritious, and she gets to order off a menu which she really likes, so it's good. My mom loves Shakespeare -- and they have a Shakespeare-reading class every week -- she loves current events and they have a current events class. They also have wine-tasting, musical groups, and trips.

We were impressed with Drake Terrace. The grounds were nicely landscaped, and they have an area where people can go out to walk and relax. It’s a nice place, and they do have a full range of activities for their residents. The staff were really friendly.

I wouldn’t recommend Drake Terrace. I had a client who put her father in there, and they loved it, but it had this musty urine smell and was little on the dark side. Almost everybody was in walkers, in their 80s and maybe 90s, and a lot had Alzheimer's. I’m 77, but I still have all my faculties, and I like the little younger group. A couple of people let us in their rooms, and it had old glass and was very unique, like one of those Old West rooms. Their parking is very scattered, and you have to hunt for a parking place; that’s one thing I don’t like. I ate there, and the food was OK.

This is a well-run facility with a family feeling. It has about 150 people, excellent food, exercise classes with planned visits ( no cost)to stores, rstaurants doctors etc. There is a weekly ride in the bus to see places in Marin County and San Francisco. The staff is amazingly kind, helpful and understands the disabilities of the clients. There are frequent special programs and nightly game night, movies night or bingo. It is a very pleasant place to llve--and the San Rafael climate can't be beat/ (Take it from someone who grew up in the east!)

I visited Drake Terrace when I was looking for a place to stay. The facility seemed updated. The common areas were nice enough. The apartments were small. There was no closet space and cooking facility. It seemed liked the bed wouldn't fit in the bedrooms. I was not comfortable with the set up.
