Heritage Gardens is very secured. They have alarms in the front doors, and it is a very secured place. They have a lot of things for the people there. I really didn't get that far into it because I wasn't that close to putting my mother in a home. The people were so friendly, and the person that gave us the tour explained everything there is, all the activities they do have, and all the services and the stuff that costs you a little bit more if you want done. One of the people that took me around to this home had their mother in that place for eight years. It is a remarkable place. You don't have to drive around to another building because it is one big building. The people were very informative and very friendly. It is probably about a block away from a hospital, and the hospital has a pharmacy in it. So it is very close to both.

I was greeted by Emily the resident dog who knows who belongs and who doesn't. Fortunately, she was in the garden behind a tall fence; she's a friendly loving lab that the residents claim as their own. The facility is fully secured to keep residents from wondering away; they have an elevator that patients can use freely. The facility was clean as was the room I was shown; the patient had her own furniture and the private room was very spacious. .Patients were seated around the TV as a group with some sleeping. There are double doors leading into the secured patio area for outdoor seating where I first encountered Emily.
