We had my mother at Aacorn Oaks Manor for several months before she died. She received really good care there. They always had a lot of people interacting and cooking on the stove, so it had a very homey atmosphere. They were always busy doing something, and the food they had for Thanksgiving was really good.

I find the staff very friendly, but often inattentive; I have actually walked in several times un-noticed by staff and feel that demented patients could easily just walk off the property. The amenities are limited and I do not see that there is much opportunity for social interaction there. Most of the residents seem comatose and are mostly just glaring at the TV. I feel there needs to be some form of games or other social interaction so that the residents don't go stir crazy. From what I have been told, the quality of food is improving greatly compared to just a few months ago. The facilities are super clean but the building is antiquated. I believe though that they are currently in the process of some upgrades to things such as flooring. Overall, I give this place a rating of 4 but only because of the excellent way the staff took care of my person when she was ill, otherwise it would have been a 3.
