The Cloisters of the Valley was probably my favorite one for my father because it was small. They only have like 33 residents all on 1 floor and a beautiful garden with a walking path through it, which he would have enjoyed. The people were very friendly. It was a really nice little place. If they wanted one a little more intimate, that would be the way to go.

We were looking for a place with gardens and openness, and Cloisters of the Valley was like that. Once they realized that my mom couldn’t do the transfer, they right away knew that it was not going to be a place for her. The tour was very nice, and everybody was very cordial and nice. They weren’t as welcoming as othe places, but I think they realized that it wasn’t probably a good fit, too. It was a lovely place. For someone who is ambulatory, it would be perfect.

We recently moved my mother-in-law here so she could be nearer to us. It is a fairly small residential home in Mission Valley. Although in quite a busy area, inside it is peaceful and there is a protected garden around the outside, which residents can roam in safety. Many of the rooms have a patio door and sitting area outside. The hallways and common areas are decorated with very nice paintings and asian art. The staff seem genuinely friendly and really seem to care about residents. One thing that speaks volumes is that many of the staff have worked together for a very long time. Activities include singing along with musicians and exercise classes. The activities we saw were well attended. When we moved her in, the staff did so much to make her comfortable and spent a long time making her room look nice. She already seems happy there.
