We visited The Brookfield at Oaktree. We didn't get to go inside at all and there were no grounds around. All you have is a building and then the building next door. The other places have grounds where people could get outside and go for a walk in the grass; this place did not. They have patios set up in the back, but we were just in the car looking through the window. My mother is 75 and their median age is much higher than that. That in itself, when looking through the windows, gave the assisted living side more of a nursing home look, the way they've built and set it up. This place didn't have a homey feel; it was more like a medical feel.

My friend moved into Brookfield at Oaktree, and my friend is very happy there. We're very pleased. It's very pleasant and comfortable. I have no complaints except that sometimes they forget to come in and do what needs to be done, but that has only happened a few times. So far things are going very smooth, very pleasant, and she's happy to be where she is. I would highly recommend this place. The rooms are adequate; they're not very large, but it's a pleasant and very attractive place. The staff is wonderful. My friend said the food is pretty good, and the kitchen people are amazing. The staff is very compassionate, caring, and she has received wonderful care. They don't do a lot of activities every day, but they do bingo every night. She does not participate. The administrator is a wonderful person, very helpful, and very accommodating. She's not afraid to get in there and do whatever has to be done herself. She's an amazing woman.

My mother was a resident before she passed. The staff at Brookfield Hot Springs was so caring and attentive to my mothers needs. Everyone from the housekeeping lady to the head nurse was kind to us. The facility was clean and decently kept. The food was good also.

The people at Brookfield at Oaktree were very nice, and their staff was very friendly. Their apartments were all very nice. We had lunch there with the director, which was very pleasant. It’s a very nice place. They told us that they do different activities to try to keep the residents entertained and interested. From what I observed, I think they do a good job stimulating their residents. It’s a little institutional feeling.

Brookfield is excellent and four minutes from our house. They have a lot of amenities, and there’s nothing dangerous in their rooms. They have a refrigerator, microwave, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, and living room. They give my mother a bath 3x a week and come get her for the meals. They lock the door at certain times, and the staff watch them 24/7. My mom loves the food, and the menu is made according to the nutritional standards for seniors.

The Brookfield at Hot Springs was a horrible place. They kicked my mother out after they could "no longer provide for her needs" when actually in the 10 months that she lived there, the only need they really provided for her was her bed. Her care was the highest tier of care there is to pay for at this facility, but she was almost always in need of changing when we would arrive. They had an assisted feeding table, or so they said. But when you would ask about it, the administrator said it wasn't part of their care. My mother lost 30 pounds in a matter of 6 months. In hind sight, we picked the wrong place in order to keep her from going to a skilled nursing facility. They never should have accepted her as a resident & they CERTAINLY shouldn't have taken almost $5000 a month for the lack of care they provided. I want to add that the CNAs they hire were very caring. feel like they loved my mother, but they were overworked & I can only assume underpaid. The administrator said that they hired over the minimum requirements, but there are no clear requirements for a facility claiming to be caring for Alzheimer's & Dementia residents....

We were forced into a decision for the care of our mother with Alzheimer's. Brookfield was one of the only of this type facilities in our state that was equipped to care for her without having to go to the extreme of placing in a nursing home. We are very pleased with the staff - they seem to genuinely care for the residents. & they are very open with communication. The building is always clean. The residents are mostly happy & look very well cared for. The food is pretty good, but definitely could be better for the cost per month.... For a difficult decision, the staff at Brookfield have made me very confident we made the right one.
